1) a Japanese text reader and translation aid has been added. This allows you to read any Japanese text file, and select words to look up in the dictionary. Detailed Kana and Kanji information for each character is also available at the click of a mouse button.
2) Kanji stroke order has been added to the Kanji information dialog. This shows exactly how each stroke of a character is drawn, and includes the starting point of each stroke.
3) Kana reading and stroke order is available via a menu item as well as by clicking a character during exercises. This shows how a character is drawn and includes stroke order, the starting point of each stroke and proper character proportion.
4) new Hiragana and Katakana dictionaries have been bundled with the package. They show the character's reading and stroke order and are particularly effective for students just starting to learn Japanese.
5) Zip drive cartridges and other removable storage media are now supported by the MultiUser Edition (in addition to floppy disks). Thus, students can be provided with a Zip cartridge (100MB) on which to store their dictionaries (including extensive multimedia), reference dictionaries and any Japanese texts.
6) The EDICT import engine has been updated. It is now faster, imports the new ENAMDICT dictionary (as well as normal EDICT dictionaries), accepts entries with no Kana (Kanji readings are shown as '?') and converts 14% more words to correct furigana.
7) the Japanese Constitution text is bundled with the package. This provides a good starting point to try out the Japanese text reader and translation aid.
8) 'Hira' and 'Kata' word types have been added, which support Hiragana and Katakana flashcards respectively. They provide a much better prompt when using Kana flashcards for exercises.
9) when the 'Furigana invalid' checkbox is set, furigana is displayed as a compact line during exercises. This provides a better indication that furigana is not valid during the exercise process.
10) selecting and replacing '?' with a true reading will not delete the Kanji beneath it in the Find Word and New Word dialogs. This greatly eases the pasting and/or entry of Kanji into the dialog and replacing the default '?' reading with a true Kanji reading.
